CM has assured development in Sohra, says Chyne

SHILLONG: Sohra MDC Titos Chyne has said that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has assured of making major investments in tourism and road development in the area.
Chyne led a delegation of Synjuk ki Khlieh Nongsynshar of Sohra Civil Sub-Division to confer about issues pertaining to the economic condition of the people.
He said the ban on coal mining has affected the residents of Sohra, while adding that the chief minister has assured of coming up with a training programme.
Pressing for people to start scientific mining, the KHADC CEM said awareness in this regard is sine qua non, while beseeching people to not revert to the practice of rat-hole mining.
Chyne also said the sanctioning of renovating the road from Umtyngar till Sohra has been made. He said other big project is to set up a heritage village and a bridge in Mawkdok viewpoint to connect Swer village.
Chyne said Conrad has also assured of developing tourist areas such as Dainthlen, Mawkma and Laitlyndop.
With regard to the construction of NIT Sohra, which has been stalled, it was informed that the chief minister will look into the matter.
