Police rescue kidnapped fish seller in WGH

TURA, Dec 6: Police in West Garo Hills have successfully rescued a fish seller who was reportedly abducted by unknown criminals while he had gone to supply fish to a marriage party on Saturday morning.
Sayful Islam, son of Mokbul Hussain of Bogularbhita, West Garo Hills, went missing along with his bike (AS 18 9854) on Saturday morning and a missing report was filed by the family members at Bogularbhita outpost under Tikrikilla Police Station on Sunday morning.
According to police, an unknown person called up the family from the victim’s phone on Sunday informing that he was in their custody and a ransom of Rs 15 lakh would have to be paid within three days for his release.
Immediately after the call was received, a search and rescue team headed by IC Bogularbhita and supervised by Additional SP was dispatched to look for the kidnapped victim.
After persistent efforts, the victim, who is presumed to have been abandoned by his captors, was located near the house of the Nokma of Bandanggre under the same police outpost.
“Efforts are currently on to nab the abductors some of whom have already been identified. We have registered a case and investigation is underway,” police informed.
