JOWAI, Dec 6: The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has prohibited washing of all types of vehicles along NH-44 Jowai Bypass, an order said.
Washing of vehicles along the NH-44 Jowai Bypass has caused severe damage to the shoulder of the roads besides heavy and very deep scouring has taken place resulting in deep drain-like trenches, the order said. The water flowing through these trenches has started to erode and undermine the road formation, which will lead to total collapse of the road formation, it added.
