Guv contented over implementation of central schemes in Khasi Hills

SHILLONG, Dec 11: Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed satisfaction over the implementation of various central schemes after holding a review meeting with the officials of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills, at Raj Bhavan here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by respective deputy commissioners and superintendents of police along with district officials dealing with the programmes in the three districts.
The DCs made a comprehensive presentation on the performance of important schemes including MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, SSA, NHM, PM Ujjwala Yojana and PMGSY among others. The Governor was also apprised of the problems and constraints faced by the districts, as well as their significant achievements.
Later, attention was relayed towards law and order issues.
The SPs made presentations on issues of security, law and order, human trafficking, drug abuse and smuggling, and informed the Governor about steps taken by the police to counter the challenges.
The Governor, while expressing satisfaction on the performance of the schemes, assured that some issues including that of poor bank coverage and mobile connectivity would be addressed by taking up the issues at his level.
