TURA, Dec 16: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) from Garo Hills has said that the recent intervention of Health Minister, AL Hek, resulting in the state being compensated with two MBBS seats nullifies the ideas of some groups who question the implementation of the job reservation policy in the state by claiming that Garos are denied their quotas.
“The whole proceeding holds significance as the two seats belong to the Garo category. I hope that his act brings hope to all such groups, and the deed serves as a shining example of impartial leadership to all,” president of the FKJGP, Pritam Arengh, said.
Arengh also expressed gratitude to Hek for his prompt intervention.
Earlier, two MBBS seats allocated to the state at Palamu Medical College in Jharkhand were cancelled by the Centre.
Taking cognizance of the issue, Hek had immediately written to Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, after which the two seats were allotted back to the state in New Delhi.
