Retired chief accounts officer no more

SHILLONG, Dec 17: Subodh Chandra Choudhuri, retired chief accounts officer of MeSEB and Accounts Officer of AG’s office Shillong, passed away on December 7 in Kolkata. He was 91.
A brilliant student, he graduated from St. Anthony’s College in 1952, being the topper in Mathematics. In his service career, he distinguished himself as an outstanding accounts person.
For some time, he also served the (State Planning Board as Member Accounts. He was the founder member of Central Government Civil Service Pensioners’ Association of Meghalaya.
A victim of partition, he was largely instrumental in giving a shape to the RR Colony as an organised and self-contained community living having sustained electricity, water supply, school, library, health centre, cooperative store, welfare society, public transport system etc.
He leaves behind a rich legacy of a harmonious relationship among all communities, particularly forging friendship between tribal and non-tribal communities.
