NONGPOH, Dec 19: With Christmas less than a week away, Nongpoh MLA, Mayralborn Syiem, on Saturday inaugurated the Christmas crib, which was made by the Nongpoh Dorbar Shnong and Ri Bhoi Christmas Committee, at main junction of Nongpoh town.
Before the inaugural session, the crib here was consecrated blessed by the Parish of Nongpoh, Father Augustine Kottalla, followed by the distribution of blankets to the underprivileged families in Nongpoh. The blankets were donated by the family of PS Toor and Marian Maring.
The MLA, in his address, lauded the efforts of the Ri Bhoi Christmas Committee and the Dorbar Shnong for organising the programme.
He said despite the worldwide turmoil owing to COVID-19, many are fortunate enough to celebrate the festival.
He also conveyed the message of love and peace to all the locals and hoped that the forthcoming year will be the year of blessing for one and all.
