NEW DELHI/ SHILLONG, Dec 19: Ahead of the Monday’s launch of Shillong-Delhi flight, an official at FlyBig has said that the company is looking to initially operate the flight weekly and then two times a week.
Stating that FlyBig is committed to this route, he said that the response from the people is quite encouraging.
FlyBig, so far, has not submitted the flight schedule to Umroi Airport after its debut flight and is accepting bookings for the flight scheduled only for Monday in its website.
Meanwhile, the company official has said that booking for the Shillong-Delhi flight will be soon made available at MakeMyTrip and Yatra.com.
The flight on Monday is scheduled to depart from New Delhi at 1000 hrs and arrive in Shillong at 1310 hrs. It would again depart from Shillong at 1350 hrs and arrive in Delhi at 1700 hrs.
A passenger, Bhola Nath, who is reportedly the second passenger to book the ticket for Monday’s flight, said that he is optimistic about his flight, while adding that the flight service has come as a major boon to improve connectivity.
In conjunction with Centre’s UDAN initiative, FlyBig, India’s newest regional airline, provides connectivity to destinations that were hitherto not accessible by air.
In the Northeastern region, Indigo operates maximum 650 fights per week connecting the cities and capitals with other metros.
Last month, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh held discussions on the direct flight service.
It may be recalled that the Shillong-Kolkata flight operated by Indigo had many takers for the service. However, Indigo had stopped the services earlier this year in view of the pandemic, and, since then, there has been no word from the airline in regard to resumption of services.
