NONGPOH, Dec 19: The Ri Bhoi district administration has been racing against time for the inauguration of the entry-exit point at Umling by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday.
RM Kurbah, the district’s Deputy Commissioner said the procedure at the entry-exit point for tourists and others visiting Meghalaya would be the same as implemented earlier by the state government.
She also said tourists visiting Meghalaya have to register themselves on the state Tourism Department’s app available for download on Google Playstore for android devices and App store for Apple devices.
There are nine counters at the Umling entry-exit point. The first is for helpdesk, the second for pre-registered visitors or tourists with COVID-free certificates, and the third for new registration of visitors.
The fourth counter is for testing travellers without COVID-free certificates, the fifth is the report-collecting centre, the sixth an isolation room and the seventh is for VIPs or emergency. Counter eight is the infiltration cell and nine is the cafeteria or canteen area.
Visitors need to show their registration and COVID-free certificate at the entry point. Those without this certificate have to undergo tests at the point for a fee. A rapid antigen test will cost Rs 500, RT-PCR – Rs 1,000, TrueNAT – Rs 1,500 and CBNAAT – Rs 3,000. No registration fee or any payment other than the fee levied for testing is required for new registration, Kurbah said. Entrants for official and business purposes can register through www.meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid.
