Shillongite elected to governing council of Indian Golf Union

SHILLONG, Dec 29: The election of new office-bearers of the Indian Golf Union was conducted in New Delhi on December 27. Justice RK Gauba (Retd.) was the Returning Officer to conduct the Elections.
The Indian Golf Union is the apex body for Golf in India and the National Sports Federation responsible for the promotion and development of the game.
Bajaj, who is from Shillong, was elected as the member of Governing Council of the Indian Golf Union for the term 2020-22 on December 27 at New Delhi.
A prolific golfer who plays with a handicap of 4, Bajaj is the youngest member and the first from North East to be elected to the prestigious Board.
Bajaj is the President of the Meghalaya Golf Promoters Society (MGPS) –the state association for Golf affiliated to the Indian Golf Union and Meghalaya State Olympic Association.
He has been instrumental in bringing Shillong Golf Course in the national golf map of the country by hosting prestigious events in association with Professional Golf Tour of India, National Junior and Amateur events amongst others.
Bajaj recently cleared the IGU – R & A Level 1 Rules Program.
He plans to restart the Golf Academy by inducting National Golf Academy of India (NGAI) certified coaches and start the Golf in Schools program and host national Amateur, Professional and Junior events.
