NONGPOH, Dec 29: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Executive Member, Paul Lyngdoh, on Tuesday inaugurated the WIRR Kharkamni Memorial Sports Complex at Mawroh village in Ri Bhoi district.
According to a statement, the sports complex was constructed by the Kharkamni clan of Nongpoh under the leadership of Rayonald Kharkamni in the memory of its deceased clan members for their contributions to the society.
“The sports complex is jointly contributed by the Kharkamni clan, Shillong MP Vincent H Pala, and former Nongpoh MDC Rona Khymdeit. The MCA will cater to multiple disciplines like basketball, cricket and badminton,” the statement said.
The inaugural function was attended by former Nongpoh MDC, Rona Khymdeit, Meghalaya Cricket Association Honorary Secretary, G Kharkongor, Nongpoh Town Committee, General Secretary, CB Syiem, among others.
