SHILLONG, Jan 2: Amid the frequent complaints about the delay on the part of the KHADC to issue trading licence for the non-tribal traders, KHADC CEM, Titos Chyne, has asserted that the Council does not delay the process provided the applicant has all the genuine documents.
Speaking about the frequent complaints of traders, Chyne admitted to the delay in 2019 while also maintaining that the Council has ensured that there is no further delay in issuing trading licence.
“We are trying to see that there is no delay but we have to see that the documents of the applicants are intact and without proper documents, we cannot process the license,” he said.
The statement of Chyne assumes significance as many traders are still awaiting their licence to be renewed since months.
Stating that the most important document for obtaining license is an NOC from the Rangbah Shnong, he said the Council clears all the applications depending on the documents of the traders.
When asked about the hike in the charges for obtaining the trading licence, he said the Council increased the trading license in 2019, after a gap of more than 10-15 years.
“We increased the charges because big firms were only paying Rs 1,000 as their fees, which we think is too less for the bigger firms and companies,” he said.
