Extortion
On January 1, around 1.30 pm, one Dame Nongsiej, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, was apprehended from Anjalee Petrol Pump, Shillong, while he was demanding money from the manager of the pump.

Threatened
Biswanath Baitha lodged a complaint that on January 2, around 3 pm, three unidentified miscreants threatened him and his daughter with dire consequences in his shop at Mawiong, Shillong.

Knife attack
Namrhenlang Dkhar lodged a complaint that on January 1, one Kony Marang attacked Deiwachwami Lyngdoh with a knife at a place between Mukhap and Mookaiaw in West Jaintia Hills. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was admitted at Civil Hospital, Ialong.

Cattle detected
Puna Ram Das of Umsyiem Border Outpost lodged a complaint that on January 3, around 3.20 am, BSF personnel detected six heads of cattle from near BP No. 1272/5-S, Border Outpost Umsyiem in East Khasi Hills district.

Betel nut theft
Close Liting lodged a complaint that on January 2, he found that miscreants stole betel nut from his plantation at Umkiang in East Jaintia Hills. Later, he learnt that two persons — Augustin Ksih and Teiborlang Ryngkhlem — were involved in the case. When the complainant attempted to apprehend the two accused, they threatened him with dire consequences.

Fishing bid
Shallan Kupar Khongwet, Secretary, KSU Wahkhen Unit, lodged a complaint on December 31 last year, against four persons — Pynslur Kharumnuid, Dran Khongwet, Moheh Khansit and Marthut Dkhar — for attempting to fish at Mawlha River (Jathet) under Pynursla Police Station in East Khasi Hills.
