TURA, Jan 10: East Garo Hills Police have recovered an unidentified body of a male from a forest reserve located along the highway en route to Songsak village on Sunday.
East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (SP), BA Sangma, informed that a highly-decomposed body with genitals removed was recovered about 100 metres from the highway on the right side, about three kilometers from Chisobra.
“The victim appears to be around thirty years old. Due to the nature of decomposition, we believe that the body is about 10 days old. We also found a gamocha (wrap around) wrapped around the victim’s neck,” Sangma said.
Police are not ruling out the incident to be personal case of vendetta due to its gruesome nature.
Meanwhile, investigation is on into the incident and a case has been registered.
Police have further informed that autopsy and inquest have also been conducted.
