Health dept to complete ongoing projects before next M’laya Day

SHILLONG, Jan 21: Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek, on Thursday, asked the entire department machinery to ensure the completion of the ongoing projects under it before the golden jubilee celebration of the state in 2022.
A visibly annoyed Health Minister, while speaking at the free hearing aids distribution camp at Shillong Civil Hospital on Thursday, said, “I want to remind the DHS (MI), Principal Secretary, Commissioner and Secretary, MD of NHM, Directors of three directorates, Medical Superintendents, DM&HOs and other staff that they are the players in the field and we need to complete all the ongoing projects and schemes before we celebrate the golden jubilee of the state.”
Stating that the Health department has many tasks to be accomplished before the Golden Jubilee celebration, the minister said that it is time that the cancer wing of the Shillong Civil Hospital is made functional. The minister also sought for a rescheduling of the completion of the state-of-the-art diagnostic centre, 100-bed hospitals at Mawkyrwat, hospitals at Nongstoin and Jowai and nursing schools, while ensuring that these projects are completed before Meghalaya Day in 2022.
The minister was speaking at the free hearing aids distribution camp organised to commemorate the 49th Meghalaya Day celebration, at Shillong Civil Hospital, by the Health department, in collaboration with Ali Yuvar Jung National institute of Hearing and Speech Disabilities, Regional Centre, Noida.
Fifty hearing aids were given away while another 50 will be distributed on Friday.
