SHILLONG, Jan 21: The Meghalaya Confederation for Academic Welfare (MeCAW) has branded NEHU Vice-Chancellor Prof SK Srivastava a “disaster” for the University while also accentuating the need for an “urgent healing touch and a course correction”.
In a statement on Thursday, the MeCAW said that the vice-chancellor has played with and infringed the basic statutory framework of NEHU.
“Not only Prof SK Srivastava is a big disaster for NEHU, but he also is a threat to academic, administrative and financial propriety. He has played with and infringed the basic statutory framework of NEHU,” the MeCAW said.
It also said that the office of the vice-chancellor did not have any officiating person on January 4 and 11.
“The vice-chancellor had abdicated his responsibility of running the office by remaining absent and by not even appointing an in-charge, thereby committing gross dereliction of duty. When he is asking teachers to seek his prior permission before leaving station, even in vacation, he remains unaccountable and abdicates all his responsibility towards NEHU,” the statement said.
