Shillong, January 22: In the run-up to the Republic Day, the COVID warriors from Shillong on Friday received a military-style musical tribute.
According to a statement, the Military Band of Assam Regimental Centre performed a live band concert to acknowledge the COVID warriors who have, ever since the outbreak of COVID-19, been acting as a bulwark to keep the citizenry out of harm’s way.
“The event was organised as a prelude to Republic Day 2021, in which live band concerts are being conducted for the corona warriors across the country at various historical locations having linkages with India’s freedom struggle,” the statement said.
The vicinity around the Rhino Training Complex, during the musicale, reverberated with songs like Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja and Sare Jahan Se Acha.
“The corona warriors were overwhelmed by the gesture of the Army and expressed their gratitude for the recognition and encouragement, as the band played military tunes,” the statement said.
