SHILLONG, Jan 22: Meghalaya, with roughly 12 lakh youths in the age group 15-30 years and which also comprises 31 per cent of the state’s total population, has to create 50,000 jobs every year, which is a challenge for the MDA Government.
Informing this, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that this is a very challenging task for the Meghalaya Government, which is a young state with its own advantages and challenges.
However, the state has a population with a young work force, which has the potential of driving the growth engine of Meghalaya and the country as a whole, he said, adding that the real challenge will be in channelising the potential in the right direction to create the infrastructure, environment and the ecosystem in a way that the youths will become a force which will push the economy, state and the nation forward.
