DC reviews avian influenza, JJM, immunisation in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH, Jan 29: Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah on Friday conferred about matters pertaining to avian influenza, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) 2021 with the officers of various departments.
Bird flu
The DC, during a meeting with the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC), discussed about the preparedness, monitoring and control of avian influenza in the district. Kurbah, during the talks, informed that no unnatural mortality of bird has been reported in Ri Bhoi so far. She added that the ban on the import of poultry and eggs continues to be in place. The DC also directed the department concerned to disseminate awareness on avian influenza among poultry farmers, traders and suppliers.
Jal Jeevan Mission
During the meeting with the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Kurbah discussed about the matters pertaining to the implementation of JJM and its status.
She also exhorted the DWSM to ensure that all the anganwadi centres and educational institutes in the district are provided piped water supply under the programme.
Polio immunisation
Kurbah, during the meeting with the District Task Force on Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) 2021, informed that the immunisation drive for children below five years in the district will held from Monday till Wednesday.
It was informed that children will be immunised at various polio booths set up by the Health department.
Meanwhile, all community and church leaders, teachers, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and others NGOs have been exhorted to support the vaccination drive.
