SHILLONG, Jan 31: IQRA beat Moonlight SC by 3 wickets in the first match of the 8th Ardhendu Chaudhuri Memorial Invitational Tennis ball cricket tournament on Sunday. IQRA won the toss and put Moonlight to bat. Moonlight scored 22 runs in 6 overs. IQRA chased the target in 4 overs.
In the second match, ICCA won against FSSC by 15 runs. ICCA, after put into bat, scored 63 runs in 6 overs. FSSC could score 49 runs in their allotted overs.
In the third march, Keating Road CC won by 4 wickets against Shri Balaji SC. Keating Road won the toss and put Shri Balaji to bat, who scored 37 runs in 6 overs. Keating Road chased down the target with 1 over to spare.
Meanwhile, Royal CC took on Laban SC in the fourth match of the day. Laban SC batted first after winning the toss. They score 32 runs in 6 overs. Royal took the closely fought match to the last over to come out as the eventual winners. Royal won the contest by 3 wickets.
In the fifth game of the day, the favourites, Young Guns beat Aparajita by 36 runs. Batting first, Young Guns scored 55 runs in their allotted overs. Their quality and experienced bowlers ensured that Aparajita did not come close to the target. Aparajita eventually bundled out for 20 runs in 5.3 overs.
In the sixth match of the day, NWCC beat United Brothers by 6 runs. NWCC won the toss and elected to bat first. NWCC scored 72 runs in 6 overs. In reply, United Brothers scored 56 runs in 6 overs.
The seventh match was between Vintage and Mawbah Strikers. Mawbah Strikers won the toss and batted first, scoring 33 in 6 overs. Vintage chased the score in the 5th over to win the match by 4 wickets.
In the last match of the day, Titans narrowly edged Heritage. Put in to bat first by Heritage, Titans could score only 39 runs in 6 overs. The thrilling match was decided in the last over as Titans defended 7 runs, eventually winning the contest by 5 runs.
