SHILLONG, Feb 3: The budget session of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will commence from February 26.
Speaking to media persons after the executive committee (EC) meeting, KHADC CEM, Titos Chyne, said that a full budget will be presented in the upcoming session along with some bills, including the Khasi Hills District Management of Market Regulation (Amendment) Act 2021 and second amendment of Khasi Hills District Elaka Administration, which will also be tabled.
In addition, the EC also gave its principal approval to set up district courts in Nongstoin, Mawkyrwat and Nongstoin.
“We would like to strengthen the judiciary and the EC has approved the sanction of new posts for additional judge and two first class magistrates,” Chyne said.
According to the CEM, the KHADC with this move wants people to come nearer to the District Council Courts and now people will no longer have to come to Shillong.
Meanwhile, the KHADC has also decided to send its views on Khasi Hills Solid Waste Management Bill to the District Council Affairs department.
