NONGSTOIN, Feb 6: People in West Khasi Hills breathed easy on Sunday with the indefinite strike by the Meghalaya Joint Action Committee on Commercial Vehicles (MJACCV) being called off for a day.
It may be mentioned that the strike, which has been supported by the Nongstoin Regional Local Taxi Owner & Driver Association (NRLTODA), will be in effect from Monday.
NRLTODA president, Alfred Marthong, said the strike was relaxed to enable people attend church services without disruptions.
He also expressed gratitude to commercial vehicles associations for supporting the strike called by the MJACCV.
With regard to the troubles faced by the public due to the indefinite strike, Marthong said he will discuss the issue with MJACCV leaders for relaxations on the strike.
