NONGSTOIN, Feb 11: Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat has urged the Chief Engineer PWD (National Highway), Meghalaya, to change the alignment of the road at Jaidohkroh near Nongspung village. The road is a part of the Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura Highway.
Byrsat, in a letter to the Chief Engineer PWD (NH), informed that most of the road mishaps happen due to the blind curve at Jaidohkroh, West Khasi Hills.
He then requested the Chief Engineer PWD (NH) to explore options for changing the alignment of the road so as to avert further road mishaps.
The owner of the land adjacent to the accident-prone area had also apprised Byrsat of his willingness to sell the land to the government in case it needs the land for changing the alignment of the road.
Byrsat has, meanwhile, suggested that the PWD NH should construct multiple speed-breakers before reaching the blind curve to avoid further accidents.
The MLA also requested the chief engineer to conduct an inspection of the spot at the earliest.
