SHILLONG, Feb 13: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Saturday thwarted a drug-smuggling attempt and seized 117.58 grams of heroin in the city while also arresting four persons in the connection.
The ANTF made the seizure after receiving a tip-off that an illegal consignment of contraband is being brought via a Network Travels bus from Manipur to Shillong.
The consignment was to be delivered to a person identified as Lhunkhojang Kuki at Demthring Petrol Pump.
The ANTF team then kept a vigil on the area and intercepted Kuki after the latter received the carton containing suspected contraband from the bus driver.
The package, which was seized, was later opened, following which 10 soap boxes were recovered.
The police later informed that the powder that was seized from Kuki was heroin and was weighing 117.58 grams.
Meanwhile, four persons have been arrested in this connection.
