Crime Update

Break-in
Lily Mary Laloo lodged a complaint that on February 16 between 9 am to 12.30 pm, unknown miscreants broke into her house at Caroline Colony, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills, and stole one LED TV and a pendrive.
Sasha Laloo lodged a complaint that on the intervening night of February 13 and 14, unknown miscreants broke into her shop at Dhankheti, Shillong, and stole Rs 9,000 in cash.
Saurav Ghosh of Lower Arbuthnot Road, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, lodged a complaint that on February 14 around 3.30 pm, unknown miscreants broke into his residence and stole one mobile phone, one LED TV, one DTH set-top box, etc.

Blockade
On February 16 afternoon, unknown persons place stones on Mawshmok-Nongriat Road, EKH. Police personnel later removed the stones from the road. In a similar incident on February 15, police apprehended one Kynmawshai Marbañiang (27) from near 3rd Mile Petrol Pump, Upper Shillong, who, along with his accomplices, was allegedly blocking the road with stones at 3rd Mile. However, the other two managed to flee the spot. The apprehended person was subsequently sent to Shillong Civil Hospital for medical examination. He has been, meanwhile, kept at Youth Hostel Quarantine Centre, Shillong.

Cattle seized
Devendra Singh of BOP Umsyiem lodged a complaint that on February 15 around 7.15 pm, BSF personnel detected two four heads of cattle from near BP No. 1272/5-S BOP Umsyiem, East Khasi Hills.
Assault
Daphishisha Khyriem lodged a complaint that on February 15 around 9 pm, unidentified persons (14-15), under influence of alcohol, came out form a forest at 7th Mile, Upper Shillong, and assaulted one Lameki Jitem, Nangman Pathaw, and also dismantled a vehicle (WB-02Y-8221) belonging to Lameki Jitem.

Theft
Fr Biju Paul, parish priest of Dalu Sacred Heart Church, West Garo Hills, lodged a complaint that on February 15 morning, one Md Poridur Islam (22) of Purbo Sanachura village under Nalitabari PS, Sherpur district of Bangladesh, along with his associates, stole one motorcycle (AS-18H-2514) from near the Church Building.

Contraband seized
On February 13, acting on a tip-off, police conducted search of Mankachar (Assam)-bound passenger bus (AS-18C-6670) at Shyamnagar, West Garo Hills, and seized 1.970 kg of cannabis from the possession of one of the passengers, viz. Rajaul Islam (36) of Mankachar College Road, South Salmara, Assam.
