Kumar’s ton aids MLP beat Sporting

SHILLONG, Feb 18: MLP defeated Sporting CC by 6 wickets in a 1st Division cricket match here at the NEPA grounds on Thursday. MLP won the toss and put Sporting to bat. Sporting scored 251 for the loss of 9 wickets in 30 overs. Batsmen Rupom Dey (57 runs off 34 balls) and Deepak Chettri (56 runs off 42 balls) were the top scorers for Sporting. Gautam Chettri (3/44) and Deepak Thapa (2/38) were the pick of the bowlers for MLP. In reply MLP chased the target in 26.2 overs. Kumar Sewa top scored with an unbeaten 111 runs off 73 balls. He was ably supported by Ranjeet Roy (68 runs off 49 balls). For Sporting, Rahul Paul (2/46) and Santosh Prasad (1/42) were the top wicket takers. Kumar was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant all-round performance. In addition to his century, Kumar also picked up 2 wickets.
