Prince Charles visits father in hospital
London, Feb 21: Britain’s Prince Charles was driven to the London hospital where his father, Prince Philip, was admitted for ‘precautionary’ reasons earlier in the week and spent half an hour by his bedside. Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, has been at the King Edward VII’s hospital since Tuesday and according to the BBC, the 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II is likely to remain there into next week. A sombre-looking Charles, 72, was seen entering the hospital wearing a facemask on Saturday and his Clarence House office later said that the Prince of Wales was then driven back to his Highgrove residence in Gloucestershire, south-west England. The exact reason for Prince Philip’s admission has not been disclosed but his stay is not related to coronavirus. (PTI)

Pak to get 5.6 mn vaccines more
Islamabad, Feb 21: Pakistan will get 5.6 million coronavirus vaccine doses by the end of March, as the country takes strides in inoculating its frontline health workers. The COVID-19 death toll in Pakistan stands at 12,601, after 38 virus-related fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours, health officials said on Sunday. In the same period, 1,329 new cases were reported taking the country’s caseload to 571,174. Pakistan began vaccinating its frontline health workers on February 2. So far, 72,882 health workers have been given at least one of the two anti-COVID-19 shots. The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said Pakistan will receive 5.6 million doses of coronavirus vaccines by the end of March. (PTI)

Egypt, Spain hold joint naval exercise
Cairo, Feb 21: Egyptian and Spanish naval forces held joint military drills in the Red Sea, Egypt’s armed forces said in a statement on Saturday. The joint exercise is the second in recent days, after the two navies held similar drills on February 14 also in the Red Sea, the Xinhua news reported. The training involved various activities, including carrying out sailing formations, surveillance of suspected ships, night transportation, helicopter landing on helidecks of marine units and more, according to the statement. The Egyptian military highlighted the importance of the joint drills “in consolidating Egyptian-Spanish bilateral relations and enhancing the horizons of military cooperation between the two countries, which contributes effectively to maintaining maritime security and stability in the region.” (IANS)
