Condolence
The faculty members, staff, Ph.D scholars and PG students of the Department of Sociology, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, held a condolence meeting on Monday to mourn the demise of Prof AK Nongkynrih, who passed away recently. “Prof AK Nongkynrih was a very dedicated teacher and researcher. He was actively involved in community outreach programmes of the Department in remote villages. ,” a statement issued by the department here, said.
The Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, during a gathering at the school auditorium on Monday, condoled the demise of former bureaucrat PC Chakraborty. Late Chakraborty served as the president of the school managing comittee for four terms.

Curfew extended
The night curfew in West Garo Hills district has been extended till March 2. All orders issued earlier will remain in effect.
