Shillong, Feb 23: SHILLONG, Feb 23: East Jaintia Hills (EJH) completed a 104-run victory over All Jaintia Cricket Association (AJCA) in Nongpoh today, while North Garo Hills (NGH) defeated South Garo Hills (SGH) by an innings and 105 runs in Mendipathar in the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s Inter-District U-23 Men’s Cricket Tournament.
Resuming their 2nd innings of the Zone 1 match on 35/2, EJH were all out for 144, which meant that AJCA needed 235 for victory. Passang Sherpa top-scored with 35 but the team were pegged back by the good bowling of Nehlang Pariat (3/18) and Daowam Passah (3/28). Despite the best efforts of AJCA, however, there were too many runs to get and they were dismissed for 130. Dathrangki Pariat contributed 35 runs to the cause, while Sherpa bagged 3/13 in EJH’s victory.
Meanwhile, in Zone 2, SGH resumed their 2nd innings on 59/6, still needing 142 runs to make NGH bat again. However, the SGH boys could only add a further 37 to their overnight score and were dismissed for a total of 96. Gilseng Momin finished with figures of 5/13, while Tengsuang G Momin took 3/17.
