1st Division Shillong Cricket League: Matri Sangha trump Sunrise CC

SHILLONG, Feb 24: Matri Sangha defeated Sunrise CC by 3 wickets in a 1st Division Shillong Cricket League match here at the NEPA grounds on Wednesday. Matri Sangha won the toss and elected to field first. Sunrise scored 218 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 27 overs. Batsmen Krishna Chettri (89 runs off 59 balls) and Manish A Sangma (30 runs off 32 balls) were the top scorers for Sunrise. Sanchal Dutta of Matri Sangha claimed 3 wickets in 6 overs while giving away 42 runs. In reply, Matri Sangha scored 220 for the loss of 7 wickets in 26 overs. Matri Sangha’s Sanchal scored an unbeaten 74 runs in 44 balls. He was well supported by Vishal Konwar (57 runs off 29 balls). For Sunrise Basu Chettri bowled 5 overs claiming 2 wickets giving away 48 runs. Sanchal was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
CLARIFICATION: The General Secretary of the Shillong Cricket Association has clarrified that there was only one Super Division Shillong Cricket League match played on Monday. The match was between Nongmensong and Young Guns, which Nongmensong won by 10 wickets.
