NONGPOH, Feb 26: Local MLA and Cabinet Minister, Dasakhiatbha Lamare, on Friday, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 5.20 kilometre-long Umshiaw-Umtangling road under Umsning C&RD Block, which will be built at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
Speaking in a programme held at Umshiaw playground, Lamare said that the state government is making concerted efforts to develop the interior roads at various locations.
While maintaining that it was a red-letter day for the locals as the much-needed project had finally made headway and would be completed within two years, the minister lauded the efforts of the PWD for preparing the detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed road in time.
Meanwhile, a memorandum pertaining to the developmental needs of the Dorbar Umshiaw including the community hall, health sub-centre etc, was submitted with the minister, who in turn assured to look into their requests at the earliest.
