SHILLONG, March 1: Former president of Mawkynrew Block Congress Committee (MBCC), Olet Kharsahnoh, along with his supporters, formally joined the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Monday during a function at Jongksha village.
Kharsohnoh, who had contested on a Congress ticket in the 2018 Assembly elections, was formally felicitated by PDF president, Banteidor Lyngdoh, who is also the Sports Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Kharsahnoh said that he and his supporters had to leave Congress as they see no future there.
He also claimed that majority of the Congress workers have decided to join the PDF to ensure the victory of the sitting local MLA Banteidor Lyngdoh in the 2023 Assembly polls. “The unity of the people of Mawkynrew constituency will ensure the overall development of the area, which has remained neglected for many decades,” Lyngdoh said.
Meanwhile, Banteidor has said that Kharsahnoh and other Congress supporters joining the PDF has come as a huge boost to the party.
A day ago, Kharsahnoh had stepped down as the Block president of Mawkynrew.
