SHILLONG, March 4: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today informed that auction of coal in East Jaintia Hills will commence shortly.
“We had already issued advertisement for the first auction in East Jaintia Hills. The auction will begin as soon as the stock reaches the depot. Auctioning in other districts will subsequently start once the stocks are brought to the depots,” Sangma told reporters.
It may be mentioned that the NGT committee has recommended Rs 4850 per MT as the base price of the coal to be put up for auction.
The decision was taken during the 11th special sitting of the NGT committee under the chairmanship of Justice BD Agarwal last month.
