Assam Rifles, varsity ink MoU to sponsor research works

SHILLONG, March 6: The Assam Rifles on Saturday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Manipur University for the creation of ‘Assam Rifles Chair of Excellence’ at the varsity.
According to a statement, the MoU will enable sponsoring of research works by Assam Rifles jointly with Manipur University in the fields of Conflict Studies, National Security, Socio-economic & Cultural fields, with a special focus on the North East India and the South East Asia. “It would also focus at conduct of seminars & round-table discussions on furthering India’s Act East Policy & other related issues,” the statement said.
The programme was attended by Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, registrar of Manipur University, Prof W Chandbabu Singh, vice-chancellor (in-charge), Prof S Santombi Singha, among other defence officials and faculty members of the university.
