SHILLONG, March 8: Counting on what the government has promised to achieve here on the floor of the House on Monday, the state government will complete the process of filling up posts that are lying vacant across different departments in the next few months.
This was informed by Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui in reply to a question raised by Congress MLA from Mawlai, Process T Sawkmie.
The minister informed that as many as 2,228 posts are lying vacant including the Grade-IV jobs as well as top posts.
Rymbui informed the House that the Meghalaya Public Service Commission had, on August 2, 2019, issued an advertisement to fill up 17 MPS posts, adding that the Central Recruitment Board (CRB) had also issued an advertisement to fill up the various posts on November 12, 2019.
Replying to a supplementary question by Sawkmie, the home minister informed that out of the 1,105 posts advertised by the CRB, 268 include unarmed branch constables, 37 firemen (male) 25 driver firemen, 351 MPRO operators, 402 armed branch constables, three SF-10 sub-inspectors and 154 commandoes (male and female) along with signal operators.
Rymbui informed that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, physical test, which was supposed to be conducted in March-April 2020, was deferred.
“But now we have the government’s permission to complete the recruitment. Hence, we will fill up the vacant posts advertised earlier,” the minister added.
