Shullai meets secy of Tourism, talks devp

SHILLONG, March 8: South Shillong MLA, Sanbor Shullai, on Monday called on the Secretary of the Union Ministry of Tourism, Rakesh Kumar Verma, and conferred about the Union Ministry’s support to Meghalaya to develop tourism.
Shullai, through Verma, also petitioned the Union Tourism Minister for early release of the second instalment of Development of Northeast Circuit, implemented by MTDC Ltd.
He also exhorted Verma to support the 20 years’ vision document to be launched by MTDC Ltd for overall development of tourism and employment generation in the state.
Shullai also requested for early sanctioning of Development of Spiritual Circuit to which Verma assured that the project will be sanctioned at the earliest after some changes in the guidelines.
The MLA has also requested Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda to grant funds so as to accord heritage status to Pinewood Hotel, which will result in creation of more jobs for unemployed tribal youths.
