NONGSTOIN, March 11: A court in Nongstoin, on Thursday, convicted an accused, identified as Khlainborlin L Rngaid, for raping a minor and sentenced him to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a penalty of Rs 30,000.
The accused had perpetrated the crime on May 2, 2019, at the residence of Diamond Lyngdoh Rngaid, Umdein village, Mawshynrut, West Khasi Hills.
The matter was reported to Mawshynrut Police Station and a case was subsequently registered under POCSO Act.
