HC seeks report on norms to display signage

SHILLONG, March 12: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the Additional Senior Government Advocate to file a report on whether there is any policy or parameters/guidelines to govern the grant of permission for signage and hoardings placed along the national highways.
Hearing a writ petition placed along the state national highways and also internal roads of Shillong, the Court asked the government advocate to submit the report within two weeks.
Earlier, S Sengupta, Additional Senior Government Advocate, produced notifications concerning the constitution of the State Level Road Safety Council, District Level Road Safety Committee and Meghalaya State Road Safety Policy.
The matter has been listed for hearing after two weeks.
