Meghalaya shooters bag 10 medals at NE event

SHILLONG, March 12: After almost one year of lockdown, Meghalaya shooting athletes from the Shooting Association of Meghalaya (SAM) with a team of 15 Shooters, braving all odds participated in the 8th North East Zone Shooting Championship, held in Guwahati and won 10 medals, including 2 gold.
The six day competition, which started on March 4, saw teams participating from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and also shooters from the Services.
The state shooters competed against 164 other shooters in ten events namely.
Shirley M. Kharbuli and Dennyson Kyrsain won gold medals for 25 Meter Sports Pistol (Women) and 50 Meter Small Bore Sports Rifle Prone – Open Category (Men) events respectively.
Rohit Thapa –10 Meter Pistol (Men – Junior) and in the 10 Meter Pistol (Men – Senior), Anjali Singh – 50 Meter Small Bore Sports Rifle – Prone position (Women), Dennyson– 10 Meter Rifle (Men – Junior), Balarishisha Rani – 25 Meter Sports Pistol – MQS (Women) and 25 Meter Sports Pistol – ISSF (Women) category, bagged the silver medals.
Anjali and Dennyson also won the bronze medals for 10 Meter Rifle – MQS (Women) and the 10 Meter Rifle – ISSF (Men – Senior) events.
