ICC bans UAE players
DUBAI, March 16: The ICC on Tuesday slapped eight-year bans on United Arab Emirates (UAE) cricketers Mohammad Naveed and Shaiman Anwar Butt for their attempted role in trying to fix matches in the T20 World Cup qualifier in 2019. The bans are backdated to October 16, 2019, when they were provisionally suspended for attempting to corrupt matches and found guilty of breaching global body’s Anti-Corruption Code. (PTI)

Sri Lanka penalised
DUBAI, March 16: Sri Lanka have been fined 40 per cent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate against the West Indies in the third ODI in Antigua. Sri Lanka all-rounder Danushka Gunathilaka was also reprimanded for giving a send-off to Nicholas Pooran in the match on Sunday which the West Indies won by five wickets. (PTI)

Raut in Top-20 ODI rankings
DUBAI, March 16: Following her brilliant performance, India’s Punam Raut broke into the top 20 among batters in the latest ICC women’s ODI rankings. Raut jumped eight places to 18th. Smirit Mandhana remains the top ranked Indian batter at 7, followed by skipper Mithali Raj, who is placed ninth. (PTI)
