SHILLONG, March 17: Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem has voiced his concerns over the mushrooming agents or dalals in district transport offices across the state.
Participating in the cut motion during the Assembly budget session here on Wednesday, the Congress MLA said that the so-called agents or dalals are looting the public left and right.
“People are forced to pay more since these agents or dalals are taking advantage like anything. Such illegal things need to be checked so that the common people are not exploited,” Syiem said.
According to him, such agents are present in the district transport offices of all the 11 districts.
In reply to the concerns, Power Minister James PK Sangma said that the government will not tolerate any kind of exploitation of the citizens, adding that the administration will take action against such persons. “We will not let anyone take advantage of the situation at DTO offices,” he said.
