NONGPOH, March 23: A one-day district-level sensitisation programme on COVID-19 vaccination was organised for the locals of Ri Bhoi during which the citizenry was asked to cast aside their apprehensions and come forward to get inoculated against the viral infection.
The programme, which was organised by the office of the District Medical & Health Officer (DM&HO), Ri Bhoi, was attended by various health officials, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, officers from different departments, religious leaders, NGOs, headmen of Nongpoh, et al.
During the programme, the DM&HO, Dr M Mawrie, apprised the gathering of the different phases of vaccination programme by Centre.
He also exhorted the people to not hesitate on getting vaccinated against COVID-19, while maintaining that the vaccine is being administered not only in Meghalaya but across the country.
He also called on the participants to disseminate awareness on the vaccine while sounding caution against spreading misinformation about the vaccine.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner, in her address, said the programme was held to allay the fears of the vaccine and sensitise one and all about its importance.
