Now, EKH crime branch to probe EJH minor’s murder

SHILLONG, March 27: The case pertaining to the alleged murder of a minor girl in East Jaintia Hills has been transferred to Crime Branch Police Station, East Khasi Hills.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (A), GK Iangrai, informed that the investigation of the case is being conducted by officers of the Crime Branch, who are being assisted by the Crime Scene Unit and East Jaintia Hills Police.
It may be mentioned that the minor’s body, suspected to have been raped and murdered, was recovered in East Jaintia Hills earlier this month and labourers loading coal in the area spotted the body lying in a pool of blood in a forest at 2-Kilo under Sutnga Elaka in the district.
The police, in the past few days, have been conducting thorough investigation and have been able to arrest the prime accused.
The police are conducting further investigation to ascertain the facts to establish whether any other person or persons are involved in this case.
