MAWKYRWAT, April 7: The Federation of Khasi, Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP), South West Khasi Hills, has demanded immediate filling up of the teachers’ posts lying vacant across all government schools in different villages in the district, failing which the organisation will agitate.
According to the FKJGP, there are as many as 121 vacant teachers’ posts across government schools in South West Khasi Hills.
“It is the students who suffer just because of the irresponsibility on part of the government, which has kept the matter of appointment of teachers in these schools pending even though the interviews were done since February 15, 2021,” the FKJP said.
It added that the “inability of the government to fill up the vacant posts has particularly hit the students belonging to poor families that cannot afford to send them to private schools”.
Thus, the FKJGP demands that the government should immediately appoint teachers as the people in the district have the right to education, it said.
