SHILLONG, April 9: Meghalaya High Court on Friday issued notices to former minister and Sohiong MLA, Samlin Malngiang, over the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) at Umsaw Dombhoi village in East Khasi Hills.
The MLA and members of the Dorbar Shnong have been directed to appear before the Court for the next hearing on May 13. This was preceded by the hearing of a petition filed by one Godfrey Donkupar Massar questioning the implementation of this centrally-sponsored scheme at the village.
The petitioner was represented by senior lawyer, Peter A Dohkrut, while R Colney represented the state government.
The government lawyer has sought more time to file an affidavit and reply before the court.
The court also asked the Registrar to issue notices to all the private respondents including the former minister, District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Construction Committee and members of Dorbar Shnong of Umsaw Dombhoi.
In addition, notices will also be issued to the chief secretary and the East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner.
Four weeks’ time has been given to the government to file its reply.
