Hockey: AHF announces new dates for men’s ACT hockey in Dhaka
KUALA LUMPUR, April 9: APostponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the men’s Asian Champions Trophy hockey will now be held from October 1 to 9 in Dhaka, the continental governing body said. The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) was earlier forced to postpone the ACT for both men and women twice because of the pandemic. The new dates of the men’s ACT have been confirmed with the Bangladesh Hockey Federation and are also approved by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the AHF said. The sixth edition of the biennial event will feature six teams – Japan, India, Pakistan, Korea, Malaysia and hosts Bangladesh. (PTI)
Former India hockey coach named head coach of US men’s team
Colorado, April 9: Former Indian hockey coach Harendra Singh has been appointed as the new head coach of the US men’s team on Thursday. Former India player boasts three decades of combined experience as an athlete and coach. He has coached the senior India men’s hockey team from 2017-18. Before that, he was also in charge of the Indian women’s team for some time. His first assignment with the Indian men’s team was the 2018 Asian Champions Trophy, where he led India to gold in Muscat, Oman. Harendra led India to a fifth-place finish at the 2018 Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup as national hosts in Bhubaneswar. That same year, the men’s side also claimed a silver in the 2018 Champions Trophy and bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. (ANI)
No proof of racial abuse: La Liga
MADRID, April 9: The Spanish league said Friday it has not found any evidence to support accusations by a player who said he was racially insulted during a match last weekend. The league said it has analysed all the available video and audio of conversations between the two players, including hiring a company specialised in lip reading, but found no proof of racially abusive language. The incident occurred during Sunday’s game between Cádiz and Valencia. The Valencia players walked off the field after defender Mouctar Diakhaby said he was racially insulted by Cádiz defender Juan Cala. (AP)

Reports speak of Flick’s growing unrest regarding club structures as the relationship with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic seems to have reached a new low. Flick is demanding more influence when buying and selling players. Reports speak of Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann as a likely Bayern target. But the 33-year-old has never left his clubs early.
