NONGSTOIN, April 11: The National People’s Party Rambrai Jyrngam Block has exuded confidence in the leadership of World Champion, while declaring on Saturday that Champion will contest the Rambrai-Jyrngam seat for NPP in the 2023 Assembly elections.
Speaking during a meeting here, NPP leaders from different unit in Rambrai-Jyrngam expressed their concerns over the rumours that NPP ticket from the constituency will be awarded to a person from the Garo community.
However, the apprehensions were allayed by the party general secretary Ignasius Khardewsaw who informed that such rumours were spread by other political parties in a bid to weaken the NPP.
Khardewsaw told pressmen here that few months ago, such rumours were also published in select local dailies.
“We have faith and strongly believe in the leadership of W Champion and the people of Rambrai-Jyrngam have realised that the area needs massive development because till date there has been no development,” Khardewsaw said.
He informed that the meeting also discussed about campaigns for the upcoming election.
The party, in the meeting, also decided to accept letters from different people desiring to join NPP in Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency for the development of the area.
Khardewsaw added that the NPP’s doors are always open for people who wish to join their campaign.
