IDFC FIRST Bank to provide better banking facilities to AR
SHILLONG, April 12: In a bid to render premium banking solution and scores of banking offers to serving personnel and veterans of Assam Rifles, the IDFC FIRST Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the paramilitary force. According to a statement, the MoU was signed at headquarters of Assam Rifles in Shillong.Amit Kumar, Head –Retail Liabilities, IDFC FIRST Bank, during the programme, said that Honour FIRST is “an outcome of our passion to serve the Armed Forces in a very special way”. Maintaining that Honour FIRST stands rooted in nation-first approach, Kumar said, “It is now a privilege for us to serve Assam Rifles with an array of our convenience banking services, digitised financial solutions and enhanced access.” Meanwhile, the Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, has welcome the initiative of IDFC FIRST Bank.He has also encouraged bank officials to cater to the banking requirements of troops posted in remote locations of North East.
Base laid for college construction
NONGSTOIN, April 12: Mawshynrut MLA, Gigur Myrthong, on Monday laid the base for the construction of Ri Lyngngam College at Mawthengkut under Mawshynrut Civil-Sub Division. The new building, which is going to be constructed, has been sanctioned by Myrthong through the North Eastern Council (NEC) at an estimated amount of Rs one crore. The five-acre land for the building construction has been donated by the Lyngngam Presbyterian Church Mawthengkut. It may be mentioned that ever since its inception in June 2016, Ri Lyngngam College has been borrowing classrooms from Rilyngngam Mission Centre. Rev BK Shangpliang of the governing body of the College, during the foundation-laying ceremony, offered blessing at the construction site. Myrthong, while speaking during the programme, urged one and all to accord top priority to education which, in turn, will develop Mawshynrut area. “The constituency received funds from NEC last year worth 3 crore following which it was utilised to improve the institutes here,” Myrthong said. Assuring future support to the Ri Lyngngam College, he exhorted the student fraternity to study hard.
Awareness-cum-screening prog
NONGSTOIN, April 12: An awareness-cum-screening programme for patients suffering from non-communicable diseases was held on Monday at the Nongstoin Civil Hospital. The programme was organised by the DM&HO, Nongstoin in collaboration with Woodland Hospital Shillong. During the programme, the gathering was educated on ways to detect early signs and symptoms of diseases so as to prevent them from becoming worse.
Ardh Sainik Welfare Board in state
SHILLONG, April 12: A four-member delegation of ex-CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces), on Monday met Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan in connection with the establishment of Ardh Sainik Welfare Board in Meghalaya for paramilitary families along with other issues and submitted a memorandum for the same.During the meeting, the governor acknowledged the role of CAPF and also assured that he would send the memorandum to the chief minister for consideration.
