GUWAHATI, April 19: Meghalaya has closed its doors to tourists from outside the state from April 23 next in view of worsening COVID situation. However, local tourism will continue.
Tourists locations in the state with high tourist footfall will also be closed down.
Meanwhile, because of surge in COVID19 cases in and around Shillong city, Meghalaya government has directed all schools to remain closed from April 20 for the next 14 days till May 4 in the Shillong area.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informed that government and private offices will also function with 50% capacity while the COVID situation in other districts was being closely monitored.
Meanwhile, the time frame of RT-PCR tests will be reduced from 72 to 48 hrs.
