STP asks people to replace retrofit exhaust pipes

SHILLONG, April 19: Owing to a reported rise in the number of vehicles retrofitted with loud aftermarket exhaust pipes causing noise pollution, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) on Monday issued a notification requesting all vehicle owners to get such exhausts removed and replaced with the original ones.
The STP will also conduct awareness drives on this issue till April 30, thereafter, violators will be booked under Section 182-A4 of the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019, it said in a statement.
